GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Next week some of the Grand Valley high school football teams will kick off their 2018 season. Earlier this week CHSAA released their football rankings and it has a Western Slope feel to it.

In Class 4A, the Fruita Monument Wildcats come into season ranked No.6. The Wildcats will be led by returning seniors Zach Rush and Treyton Queen.

Class 3A sees two Western Slope teams in the mix. The Palisade Bulldogs under head coach Joe Ramunno are ranked No.5. Palisade will have to find a way to replace Austin Bernal and Terrance Williams. In 2017 the backfield duo was responsible for more than 3,000 yards of total offense.

The 2018 season will kick off with week zero next Friday night.
