CMU Women's Soccer: Lady Mavs hope to exceed expectations in 2018

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The RMAC released the women's soccer preseason all-conference team and coaches' poll earlier this week.

Colorado Mesa did not have a player selected to the preseason team and was picked by the coaches to finish seventh in the conference.

UCCS is the preseason favorite to win the conference with 11 first-place votes.

"I don't read into the preseason rankings very much. There hasn't been a ball kicked yet, its all been from last year. I am just focused on what we are doing now and what were doing is really good," said head coach Jason Clare.

Alexis Allard will lead the charge for the Mavs in 2018. The Arizona native was the only Mav named an All-RMAC selection last season after scoring a team high six goals.

CMU will kick off their season on August 31 on the road in Odessa, TX taking on Texas-Permian Basin. The Mavs beat the Eagles 1-0 last season in Grand Junction.
