GJ Rockies: Missoula pulls away in late innings

MISSOULA, Mont. (KKCO/KJCT) The Grand Junction Rockies dropped the third game of the series against the Missoula Osprey, 12-4.

The Osprey scored a combined nine runs over the final four innings to put the game out of reach.

The decisive blow came in Missoula’s five-run eighth inning capped off by Kristian Robinson’s RBI double.

The Osprey also hit four home runs on the night including two from Zachary Almond. It was Almond’s 11th and 12th home runs on the year, respectively. Zack Shannon homers for consecutive days as well. It was his 13th home run of the season.

Eris Filpo suffers the loss for Grand Junction after going five innings allowing three earned runs on eight hits.

Reese Berberet homered for an 11th time this season. Daniel Montano added two hits as well. The Rockies recorded only four hits as a team.

With the loss Grand Junction falls to 35-28 overall and 15-10 for the second half of the year.
