CMU Men's Soccer: Mavericks ready for showdown in Golden

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) CMU will travel to the undefeated fifth ranked Colorado School of Mines.

The Mavericks lost their first match of the season on Sunday and will look to avoid two in a row on Friday.

"They're very, very physical,” Head Coach Todd Padgett said. “They are a good soccer team. They like to play in the box where I think we are a bit different. It's developed into a bit of a rivalry no doubt about it. It's a game we look forward to."

With a win, the Mavericks would be back in contention for a conference title and put pressure on the Orediggers as they finish out the season.

"Every year I've been here, when we play against Mines its really one of the games that determines who is going to win the conference championship," Senior James McGhee said. "We've played them in the conference final two out of my three years here. It's a big game."
