HS Football: Montrose eyes playoffs with one game left in season

MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Montrose suffered their first loss of the season against Ponderosa last week.

For the Indians, they turn their focus to the final game of the season when they host Aurora Central. The Trojans are 1-8 this season and have not won a game in Metro league play.

With only nine seniors, Montrose is a young team. But the team will lean on their seniors when the playoffs roll around for their experience and leadership.

"They've really stepped up and I think exceeded expectations of what maybe they would be able to do," said head coach Brett Mertens. "It's more about what I'm proud of what they are able to do as young men in the classroom, in the community and in school. I'm happy for them and I hope they can get a win on senior night."
