HS Boys Basketball: Palisade youth takes over leadership role

PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) This weekend marks the beginning of the basketball season in the Grand Valley.

Palisade will participate in the Warrior Challenge Tournament held at Central high school.

Last season, the Bulldogs began the season with six straight losses and ended the year 6-17.

After graduating only one senior, Palisade brings back a lot of experienced players.

Second year head coach Clay Kame hopes the seniors this year will be able to lead Palisade to a better start on the court.

"Last year, which was kind of a weird year my first year coming in, we had to have a lot of younger kids step up into big roles," said Kame. "This year, I think they are taking it in the right way. Leadership has been better. Having six seniors is a lot easier as a coach."

"I try to lead a lot by example," senior Logan Tarman said. "Every drill, I try to go as hard as I can and get after it. Going after loose balls and just really trying to motivate them that way showing them they need to work for everything on every possession."
