CMU Men's Basketball: Open RMAC play at Western Colorado

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) CMU basketball is off to one of it's hottest starts in five years at 5-1 and they are shooting 57 percent from the field. That's good for the top ranking team in all of Division II.

This weekend, the Mavericks will open conference play on the road when they play Western Colorado.

CMU leads the RMAC in assists per game at 19 and the Mavericks will look to keep the shots falling on the road Saturday against a three point shooting reliant Mountaineers team.

"They're are a really good team and they've had an exhibition game where they blew out Air Force," said head coach Mike DeGeorge. "They beat one of the top five teams in the country so they've had some really good wins. They shoot the heck out of the ball and when those shots are falling, they are a lot to handle."
