GJ Rockies: 2019 coaching staff announced

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO/KJCT) The Grand Junction Rockies have announced their 2019 coaching staff.

Jake Opitz will be back to lead the Rockies as manager for his second season. It's his third in the Rockies organization. He began coaching in 2016 as a hitting coach for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Andy Gonzalez, the rookie level development supervisor, will return to the staff for his fifth season. Before coming to Grand Junction in 2017, he was the hitting coach in 2015 with the Boise Hawks and became their manager in 2016.

Hitting coach Zach Osborne is back for his second season with the Rockies. He played in the minors until 2016.

Pitching coach Blaine Beatty is the lone fresh face of the coaching staff. The last 12 seasons he's been a pitching coach in the Baltimore Orioles farm system.

Trainer John Duff returns for his seventh season.

Grand Junction starts the season on the road June 14. They will take the field for their home opener on June 18 against Colorado Springs.
