GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) This week, the CMU swim and dive team will take the 16 hour drive to Lewisville, Texas for the RMAC Championships Wednesday through Saturday.
The last time the team took the pool was a dominating performance at Colorado School of Mines on January 12th. For the women, they are looking get over the hump and get their first RMAC championship after finishing second in five of the last six years.
The men are looking for their third. The teams are ready for the challenge and feel more prepared than in years past.
"It would be huge for our women's team to take that step to be the conference champions," said head coach Geoff Hanson. "For the guys, we won the meet two years ago and last year, we were third so we kind of took a step back. The competition got stiffer. The men's side, we had a big senior class that left us last year. Really talented, experienced guys and I don't think we were expected to reload like we have. I think we are better than last year. More talented, more top end talent. It's going to be a team effort for four full days."
