FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) After hosting the regional tournament, the Wildcats are feeling confident about their group going to state.
Five of the seven going are seniors including the second ranked 195 class wrestler Keegan Bailey, Casey Hudson who has gone 34-8 in the heavyweight class and Delson Pyland who has gone 29-12 in the 182 class. If there was any pressure to wrestle at state, they just shake it off.
"I have fun. I love being there," said Bailey. "The crowd, the people, the venue, it doesn't really bother me much. I go out there and I have fun. I dance and I just enjoy the sport and I enjoy being there."
"We placed 10 of 14 at the regional tournament," said head coach Lucas Archuleta. "Looking at where we are sitting in the brackets and just how we've been wrestling, we've got a shot to place most of them if not all of them. It just depends on their mind frame and if they believe in themselves at this point. We've always gotten better each week and if we are better than we were last week, there is a lot that we can do this upcoming weekend."
"This year has helped me a bunch," said senior Trea Fantin. "I've learned a lot moving up here this year. It's helped me tremendously working with these guys. They push me to the edge and help me bring myself back up. I'm ready for it."
