CMU Softball: Success comes from leaning on one another

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Mavericks have the most wins in conference but trail Colorado Christian by percentage in the standings because the Cougars have played fewer games due to weather complications. In their current win streak, CMU has outscored their opponents 52-12.

Just before the halfway point of the conference season, the Mavericks have been able to rely on each other to create offense or shut down their opponents in the circle.

"I throw and know that I only have to worry about my part of the game as a pitcher and not have to worry about keeping teams completely away," said senior pitcher McKenzie Surface. "Knowing that if they get a base hit, just come back and do my thing and then I know my teammates are going to pick me up on the offensive end."

(alexa samuels) "Coming off of spring break, a lot of us were just here together," sophomore catcher Alexa Samuels said. "We just had each other out here so we spent the week figuring out what our team means to us. I think that's a big key component going on to the second half of the season."
