Fruita celebrates student athletes signing to play college athletics

FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Fruita Monument had seven signees today. During the ceremony, they were introduced by their coaches and mentors and then spoke to the audience about their choice and gave thanks for the support.

Campbell Atkins made the switch to beach volleyball in high school and will continue that at Erskine University in South Carolina. Moran Laing will play volleyball at Midland College in Texas. Gabby Rigsby will play volleyball at Bluefield College in Virginia.

Catarina Otero Sanchez will play lacrosse at the next level at Johnson and Wales in Denver where she said it feels like home and is excited to be in the city. Teammate Maddie Acosta is looking forward to being a goalie in lacrosse at Alma College in Michigan.

Landri Hansen will compete in the high jump at Concordia University Irvine in California. She credits the coaches help tweaking and adjusting her jumps to perform at the level to compete in college. Casey Hudson is excited to represent the valley as he will wrestle close to home in Grand Junction at Colorado Mesa.

It was a big day for Fruita Monument athletics and the teammates will stay close as they compete at different colleges all over the country.
