HS Girls Soccer: Wildcats advance with 4-1 win in first round

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Fruita girls soccer received the three seed and hosted thirty seeded Brighton.

Junior forward Lila Dere had 29 goals heading into the game. She would score her 30th just 20 seconds into the game. It was her 90th career goal and Fruita led 1-0.

The Wildcats kept on the offensive. Laurel Storheim with a long boot but it was just a bit high.

Just under nine minutes left in the half, the Bulldog's Paige Vogel strikes it to the far corner just out of reach of the goalie to knot it up.

They went into halftime tied at one. Fruita scored three more goals to win and advance with a 4-1 win over Brighton. The Wildcats will play 14 seed Ralston Valley who advanced in a win over Grand Junction in overtime in the first round.
