GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) After a stretch of 14 games in a row, the GJ Rockies were off on Tuesday. After a quick rest day, the Rockies will be back at Suplizio Wednesday for a game with Great Falls.
Grand Junction was taking on an opponent in the North Division for the first time this season. Avery Weems had nine strikeouts for the Voyagers in five innings of work.
Christian Koss was a good choice for the designated hitter spot Wednesday night. He hit a two RBI single to center field to give the Rockies a 2-0 lead in the third. He helped GJ reclaim the lead in the seventh with another two RBI single.
The Rockies hold on in the ninth and win 5-4. GJ improves to 13-11 on the season. Game two of the series is Thursday at 6:40 P.M.
