GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) In their last five games, the Grand Junction Rockies are averaging just under six runs a game. The offense is starting to come together just as the starting pitching has excelled. Thursday night was no different for the Rockies in an 8-2 win over Great Falls.
Great Falls scored in the first on an RBI single by Lency Delgado. That was the only run Grand Junction starting pitcher Anderson Amarista would give up. He went six innings giving up three hits and six strikeouts.
The Rockies get on the board in the third. Jack Yalowitz, the 2019 10th round draft pick out of Illinois, crushes a three run blast over the right field wall to make it 3-1. He was a triple away from the cycle scoring three runs on the night. Two batters later, Christian Koss hits a solo shot just inside the foul pole in right to add to the lead, 4-1.
Julio Carreras would then score the next two runs in the fifth inning and the seventh on RBI singles. Yolki Pena tacks on two more with a two run homer to left field giving the Rockies an 8-1 lead. They get the win 8-2.
Grand Junction can get the series win on Friday in game three of the series. First pitch is at 6:40 P.M.
