GJ Rockies: Struggle at the plate leads to 12-1 blowout loss

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Grand Junction Rockies pitching staff just couldn't avoid trouble and didn't have any run support in the 12-1 loss Monday night to Orem.

GJ took the 1-0 lead in the 2nd on a sacrifice fly by Todd Issacs to score Colin Simpson from third. After the second inning, the Rockies would be held hitless.

Orem would tie it in the next half inning on a wild pitch by Helcris Olivarez. The starting pitcher had a rough night going three innings allowing three runs on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts. The Owlz take a 3-1 lead on a two-RBI single by Brandon White.

Orem scored four runs in the fourth inning, two more in the sixth and three in the eighth en route to their 12-1 blowout. The Owlz scored twelve runs on twelve hits with one error and take the series lead 2-1.

Tuesday night, the two teams meet again at Suplizio Field at 6:40 P.M.
