HS Volleyball: After dropping first set, Palisade wins on the road

FRUITA MONUMENT, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The high school sports season is back. Palisade volleyball playing at Fruita Monument.

In the first set, freshman Kylah Celayeta serving up a dish too hot for the bulldogs to send back. The Wildcats take a 16-8 lead.

Later in the set, Palisade was ready. A few good passes lead to a Kendyl MacAskill spike for the point. Fruita had the 21-12 advantage.

Game point, the Wildcats student section was in mid-season form Tuesday night. After a return by the net from the Bulldogs, Fruita's Rachel Coffey smacks the ball back to take the set 25-12.

Palisade came back with a vengeance. Caylee Chutka serves up an ace early in the second set.

The law offices of Elizabeth Hawkins and MacaSkill are here to close. Solid defense at the net and after losing the first set, Palisade wins three straight to take the match, 3-1 the final.

Both teams will play in the Regis Jesuit Tournament starting on Friday. Palisade will play Westminster in the first day of the tournament. Fruita Monument will play Eagle Valley.
