MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Montrose takes care of business at home with a dominant running game that leads them to a 44-20 victory.
The Indians were first to score with an opening drive touchdown from Cole Simmons. After stifling the Central Warriors on their first drive, Taylor would find his way back in the endzone by way of a 50 yard touchdown run to give Montrose a quick 14-0 lead.
After an onside kick recovery by Montrose, they shock the Warriors on the first play with a 47 yard touchdown run from Emmert Kastendieck. Central would finally break through and get on the scoreboard. The Warriors defense picks up a loose ball on a fumble from the hand-off exchange and Joe Carol speeds 80 yards the other way for the scoop and score.
Montrose would take a 30-13 lead into half after a Central touchdown to Kole Taylor just before the break. The Indians hold on to win 44-20 and start the season 1-0. Montrose will play at Grand Junction next week. Central will host Fruita Monument on Friday night.
