GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Grand Junction Rockies have won nine of their last ten games and are making a late season surge for that second playoff spot. A lot of help has come from the play of the Pioneer Player of the Week Brenton Doyle.
In eight games, he went 16-29 with three doubles, two triples, two home runs and 12 RBI. After coming back from a chin injury, Doyle has been raking at the plate improving his batting average from .317 to .376.
The fourth round draft pick from this year's draft class becomes the fourth Rockies player to be named the pioneer player of the week.
