GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Montrose came into Grand Junction looking to start the season 2-0 and they did just that with a 35-3 blowout win.
The Tigers started the game on offense and the first drive ended in a 30-yard pick-six scored by Montrose's Ashton Oberg. Grand Junction's next possession was led by AJ Mariz and his mobility to get the team to the red zone. The drive would sputter and end in a field goal making it 7-3 Montrose.
The Indian's defense then locked it down and forced two more interceptions in the first half. The offense then did their part grinding on the ground and took a 21-3 lead into halftime.
Montrose scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter and held Grand Junction scoreless. The Indians win on the road 35-3 over the Tigers. Montrose stays undefeated and will host Durango next Friday. Grand Junction will look to bounce back next week hosting in-town rival Central.
