CMU Volleyball: Mavericks win in straight sets over Dixie State

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Mavericks got their second win at home as they hosted Dixie State Saturday night. They won in straight sets 25-19, 25-21 and 27-25.

While each set was close, CMU was able to pull away at the end of each set. Kasie Gilfert had 15 kills and five blocks in the win. Senior Camille Smith had 12 kills and three blocks. Both hit over .450.

The Mavericks beat Dixie State for the first time at home in the three meetings they have played at Brownson Arena. It will be the last as the Trailblazers move to Division I next year. The Mavericks begin the regular season 2-0 at home.

CMU will be back on the road next weekend when they travel to play MSU Denver on October 4.
