CMU Women's Basketball: Looking for balanced scoring this season

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The CMU women's team is coming off an RMAC championship and this season and they are picked to repeat that performance. The team will have to replace their top scorer from last season in Jaylyn Duran.

While there are a few new players on the team, this team looks for players to step into new roles from last year an help round out the team to compete for another conference title.

"They are different players now compared to the seniors last year," said head coach Taylor Wagner. "I think we can do it by committee. Where's the shot going to come from, who's going to take the shot, who are we going to look for in tight situations? Each day in practice I think we get a little more comfortable with each other and hopefully that continues through out the season."

"I think this year is going to be more balanced," said junior forward Kelsey Siemons. "I think that is actually going to benefit us because how are you going to scout having to stop five girls that can go off at any time? I think all of us have stepped up this year and are going to continue to step up."

The Mavericks have an exhibition game with Denver on November 2, the season begins November 8 against Cameron University.
