GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Leah grew up with their teammates right here in Grand Junction. After three years of playing together, she has developed into someone they can look up to. She's a team player but an aggressive player who isn't afraid to take charge.
"It's just part of the way I play. I've always wanted to score in the paint more than outside. I try to lead by example a lot and not take the easy route" says Leah.
Leah leads the team averaging 16 points a game and over the years, her decision-making skills on the court has soared. She is only a junior. and if it were up to her, she would stay in high school longer but she has her eyes set on the future. She hopes to continue to play basketball at her dream school, the University of Oregon.
"She's gotten tougher over the years. She would take a hit and it doesn't bother her like it used to. That's one of those small victories that you're excited for because it has made a difference. I hope someone sees the value in her, the potential in her and she gets to do that" says Coach Mary Doane.
