CMU Football get first home game win
It was a special night as the Maverick family dedicated Saturday night's win to the Grossnickle family. The parents of freshman, Logan Grossnickle lost their lives in a car accident in rifle earlier this week. The former Tiger is a running back for CMU. Thoughts and prayers go out to Logan and his family.
This game took a while to get on its feet and it wasn't pretty. But that's thanks to the defense on both sides. The Mavs sacked the Skyhawks five times. The Mavs had a field goal opportunity to get on the board from 41 yards but it was no good as it veered too much to the right. Just before the half, the Skyhawks were able to sneak a field goal in there for a 3-0 lead.
Quarterback, Hayden Bollinger, started this second half and ended up running a touchdown of his own for 2 yards giving the Mavs the lead but the Skyhawks tied it up in the third.
The Mavs kept their lead with a 48-yard touchdown by Luis Ruiz-Diaz. Mavs pull it off for the Maverick family and in honor of the Grossnickle's, 17 -10.
