Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) CMU Men's soccer had their home opener Thursday night at Walker Field against Eastern New Mexico.
The Greyhounds scored in the 11th minute and took a 1-0 lead and then again in the second half. Mavericks had six shots on goal, one of them going in but was called off-sides and didn't count. Mesa had plenty of more chances to score. In fact, they had 14 shots overall and four corner kicks but tonight wasn't their night. Mavs Goalkeeper, Brendan Brown, snagged his first career start and finished the night with three saves.
Mesa loses its home opener, 2-0. They will play Sunday morning at Walker Field against Neman University.
