Kelsey Siemons made her way into the starting line up her sophomore year where she led the RMAC in blocked shots. Now in her junior year, Kelsey continues to lead the RMAC with 36 blocked shots for the second year in a row.

"I think it's kind of cool,” said Siemons. “I feel like growing up, you have this dream of playing college basketball and you obviously want to succeed in that. Being here is just a mind blowing experience. Doing what you've always dreamed to do is a really cool feeling."

"I like her being out there because I know very rarely is she going to make a mistake," said head coach Taylor Wagner.

In addition, Kelsey leads the RMAC in 3-point field goal percentage at 47% and ranks eighth nationally.

"I love it because it continues to challenge me, I can always improve and I’m never going to be done getting better,” Siemons said. “Just knowing there's always more to do and always more to learn and take away from the game is a really cool feeling."

"That’s what you want as a coach,” said Wagner. “You see that growth each and every year from each player and she's definitely done that for us."

Just a few weeks ago, the Arizona native was sick with the flu and hurt her ankle. She went on to play the next day. She says her biggest challenge has been staying positive.

"There’s other ways to affect the game,” said Siemons. “My mental toughness has grown a lot.

"I just want to win coach. That's been her attitude since she's been here and it's really refreshing to have someone like that on our team," Wagner said.

In addition to her basketball additions. The defensive player of the year holds a 4.0 GPA in biology.

"It’s a lot about time management and priorities and education is a big priority of mine," Siemons said.

Kelsey has a career high of seven blocks, just two shy of breaking the school record. She has another year left to play, and hopes to put her name in the record books.
