The Colorado River Valley 12-U baseball team won the state championship last week. It's the first time in league history a team from CRV has won the state championship. Most of the players are from New Castle, Silt and Rifle.

Last season, the team won districts and made it to state but got beat. They only had three returners to this year's team and this time around, they had to beat Colorado Springs twice to claim the crown. They won game one, 2-0 and game two, 4-3 to be named state champions.

The team moves on to regionals and will represent Colorado in Waco, Texas. Their first game is August 1 against New Mexico.
