Temple (TX) didn't expect to make the JUCO World Series after falling in their Southwestern District tournament.

The brawl between Cisco and McLennan in the district championship game resulted in a double forfeit giving Temple the invite to JUCO as the last team to lose in the tournament.

"I'm sure there are some people that are saying, 'hey they probably shouldn't be here,' and all that stuff.," said head coach Craig McMurtry. "We don't have any control over that. That's the bottom line. I'm trying to be as honest as possible. We didn't expect to be here. But we're getting the opportunity and we're going to do the best we can with it."

The Leopards feel they have something to prove.

"We're obviously the underdogs," said sophomore Jordan Monacy. "Stuff happened with McLeannan and Cisco. It's unfortunate. People are definitely looking down on us. Hopefully we're going to prove them wrong."

Temple will open up the JUCO World Series against Southern Idaho at 9 A.M. on Saturday at Suplizio Field.
