The first team arrived on Tuesday night for the Junior College World Series and it was the San Jacinto Gators.

San Jac is coming off of another National runner-up finish in 2017 when they fall in the title game to the Chipola Indians 15-6. That continued the title drought for head coach Tom Arrington who will be inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Hall of Fame this summer. He is just glad he will be able to share the memory with his team.

"All year after I got the phone call I was going to be inducted the worry whether or not the team would be there was tough. It was a long patient wait and I am just really glad they are here too,"said head coach Tom Arrington.

It is the Gators 23rd appearance in the World Series in their history and they will be bringing 22 sophomore to Grand Junction this season. They would like to win the teams first title since 1990, but at the end of the day it is all about the experience.

"We just have to enjoy it and live in the moment because this is a beautiful place to play and you don't get this chance everyday even if you are San Jac,"said sophomore Herbert Iser.

San Jacinto will not play until Sunday when they take on Monroe College out of New York.
