X Games are a year round project
On Thursday, X Games 2019 will begin in Aspen and it's been a full year project for everyone involved. 1,100 workers from security to construction crews, media relations and transportation all put in the time to put on a winter sports experience worthy of a gold medal.
"It's really a 365 day planning process," said Vanessa Anthes, the Associate Director of Event Operations. "This year, we will be looking to the improvements we can do next year. We work with the community and come in in the fall. We do a pre-build in the fall."
"Then in January, we start our full load in to build structures for viewing, build the courses. From snow making to course construction to then TV and audio to make sure that the show everyone is watching at home is an experience that they feel like they are right here in the crowd."
