Hsu Update: Judge Sets Hsu's Bond At $5 Million

By  |

Bond for federal fugitive Norman Hsu is set at $5 million. In court Thursday afternoon District Attorney Pete Hautzinger argued Hsu's bond should be set at $50 million. Hautzinger told Judge Raaum that when Hsu was arrested he had a check book on him with a balance of $6 million.

The disgraced democratic fundraiser is expected to waive extradition at his next court appearance which is Wednesday.

Hsu was transferred Wednesday night from St. Mary's Hospital to the Mesa County Jail.

Hsu was arrested last week at St. Mary's Hospital after he fell ill on a train passing through Grand Junction. 11 News spoke with the retired bus driver who found Hsu weak and disoriented on the floor of his cabin room. She told 11 News there were many pills lying around him.

Hsu will be held at the Mesa County Jail until he is extradited to California where he'll face sentencing for a 16-year-old grand theft charge he pleaded "no contest" to.
