MCINNIS CANYONS, Colo. (KKCO) This weekend's outdoor sporting race is giving athletes of varying abilities the chance to compete together in rigorous events.
It's the 7th annual Adventure Team Challenge and it consists of two days of races through the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area.
Mountain biking, white water rafting and rappelling down cliffs are just a few of the activities the athletes will have to conquer.
Ten teams will be competing. Two people on each five person team are adaptive athletes and one of the two is living in a wheelchair.
"You're already dealing with some challenges as it is physically and then on top of that getting out there and traversing some of these courses and obstacles," said Oz Sanchez, an adaptive athlete competing in the event. "It sets up for a lot of craziness and everybody should leave pretty inspired."
The first race begins Saturday at 9 a.m. The last race is Sunday morning with an awards ceremony to conclude the weekend at noon.
