GUNNISON, Colo.- An avalanche was triggered by backcountry users this afternoon. One person was rescued and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The avalanche happened in the Ruby Bowl area near Kebler Pass in Gunnison County. The avalanche danger at the time of the slide was considerable at the time. Crested Butte search and rescue were put on stand-by at the time. When rescue crews arrived they found two people digging where the victim was partially buried. The condition of the victim is being released pending notification of family.
