GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- A Grand Junction woman is in trouble with the law after police she let her 9-year-old daughter drive her car on two separate occasions.
36-year-old Lori Rogers faces multiple counts of child abuse, reckless endangerment, and permitting an unauthorized minor to drive.
The Grand Junction Police Department says officers were called to the McDonald's at Mesa Mall Saturday, where witnesses and employees told them they saw the 9-year-old behind the wheel of the car in the drive thru. They also told officers the car was tailgating, weaving, and stopping suddenly prior to pulling into the restaurant.
According to a court summons, Rogers' 10-month-old baby was also in the car at the time.
Officials say they took a similar report the day before at the Go-Fer Foods Store on Broadway. In that case, a witness told officers a young girl mentioned she was learning how to drive, then saw her drive away in the car.
Officials say through the course of their investigation they determined the two incidents were linked.
Rogers is due in court in November.
