GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) -The second congressional hearing in the last 5 years on oil shale will be held Wednesday morning in Grand Junction.
The hearing, that will be closed to public comment is being organized by Republican Congressman Scott Tipton. So, in advance of the meeting opposing viewpoints were presented yesterday afternoon.
Local residents sounding off at the Two River Convention Center on viewpoints they say will not be presented at the hearing.
"Oil shale is the worlds most misunderstood energy resource, it provides a trivial amount of energy on a global bases, because it's very difficult to unlock the energy in oil shale and convert it into a useful product that we could get at a gas stations" says Independent Energy Analyst, Randy Udall.
Along with Tipton other members of the Energy and Mineral Resources subcommittee will be speaking at Wednesdays hearing. The hearing will be at the Grand Junction Civic Center on 250 North 5th Street starting at 9am.
